Maternal Health & Wellbeing, and Matrescence

Matrescence is a developmental process that we go through before we become mothers (or caregiver in a mothering-role), and it continues throughout motherhood/caregiving. This process is continuous and involves a vast amount of transitions/changes in all aspects of our lives.

If you have ever felt overwhelmed, confused, lost, or like a stranger in your own life, there is a word for what you are experiencing. It isn’t a "disorder" or a "failure." It is called Matrescence.

Like adolescence, we experience changes in all different aspects of our being, this includes biology, psychology, spiritually, and socially. It’s a complex process, and an opportunity to grow as an individual and transform into the best version of our true self.

Navigating Motherhood Away From Home (Expat & Immigrant Support)

Mothering without your village across the ocean brings a unique layer of isolation.

Raising children far from family, familiar healthcare systems, and cultural roots can leave you feeling deeply disconnected, overwhelmed, or struggling to find your footing, especially during the major identity shift of Matrescence. I know this reality intimately because I have lived it.

Whether you are navigating pregnancy in a new country or raising little ones without extended family nearby, you don't have to carry the weight alone. I offer a compassionate, safe space where you can feel held, understood, and supported through non-clinical maternal health coaching.

  • Bilingual Support: 1:1 Coaching sessions available in English and Afrikaans (Ek praat jou taal en verstaan die uitdagings, van 'n mamma wees, ver van die huis af).

  • Open to All Expats:

No matter where in the world you originally call home, if you are mothering in New Zealand without your familiar village, you are warmly welcome here.
